Abstract
As ek die taak moet volvoer wat u vir hierdie simposium oor die internasionale politiek aan my opgedra het, naamlik om met ’n terugblik op die twee dekades wat sedert die einde van die oorlog agter die rug lê, die stand van die internasionale samelewing op hierdie stadium te skilder, met spesiale verwysing na die betekenis daarvan vir Suid-Afrika, dan kan ek my nie voorstel dat ek die opdrag beter kan uitvoer as om die gang van die internasionale gebeure te ontleed aan die hand van die ontwikkeling en verval van die Verenigde Volke nie. Want die Verenigde Volke is miskien die helderste spieëlbeeld van al die nasionale en internasionale strominge en wendinge, verwagtinge en teleurstellinge, probleme en bedreigings van die afgelope twee dekades.Copyright information
