Abstract
Die regverdiging van baie van die medies-genetiese navorsing m b t voortplanting by die mens (vgl Deel II), is gegrond op die argument dat die bekamping van ’n algemene medies-sosiale euwel soos onvrug- baarheid dit noodsaak. Dié toegepaste medies-genetiese navorsing sal naamlik uiteindelik — so word aangevoer — die vooruitsigte ter oorkoming daarvan verbeter, of as altematief, die manipulasie as sodanig is reeds die oplossing waardeur die onvrugbaarheid te bowe gekom word (vgl fetusoorplantings). Die omstrede mediesgenetiese optrede word dus deur die voorstaanders daarvan geregverdig deur- dat hulle daarop wys dat individuele egpare ’n basiese reg op eie kinders sou he. Egpare wat vanweë onvrugbaarheid nie in daardie ver- meende reg deel nie, sou dus teenoor die gemeenskap aanspraak op oorkoming van hulle probleme kan maak.Copyright information
